Top Crater – Etna Sud

Appointment in Etna South at an altitude of 1880 meters and meeting with the Alpine/Volcanological Guide. Briefing and departure with the cable car from 1880 meters to the arrival at 2500 meters.

Continuation with 4×4 off-road vehicles up to an altitude of 2920 m. From here the trek begins to reach and admire the summit craters at around 3300 m. Return to a lower altitude for a packed lunch break.

Continuation of the trek until reaching the 4×4 vehicles again and then the Etna cable car for the descent to the base station of Etna Sud at 1900 m. Period of implementation – all year round, excluding winter.

Trekking development: 7 km total

Personal equipment: backpack, trekking shoes, high socks, windproof jacket, sweatshirt, long trousers, gloves and hat, glasses and neck warmer to protect yourself from gases and volcanic sand. Possibility to rent trekking shoes + jacket on site. Packed lunch and at least 1.5 liters of water per person are recommended.

The excursion requires good physical preparation, it is strongly not recommended for those suffering from cardiovascular, respiratory or hypertension problems, for those suffering from dizziness, for pregnant women, and prohibited for children under 13 years of age.
