Top Crater – Etna Nord

Appointment at Piano Provenzana at an altitude of 1810 meters and meeting with the Alpine/Volcanological Guide. Briefing and departure with 4×4 off-road vehicles until reaching an altitude of 2960 m. Start trekking up to the highest reachable point of the Summit Craters at 3300 m.

Return at a lower altitude for the snack/packed lunch break. Continuation of the trek until reaching the 4×4 vehicles and descent to the departure station of Piano Provenzana at 1810 m. Period of implementation – all year round, excluding winter.

Trekking development: 5 km total

Personal equipment: backpack, trekking shoes, high socks, windproof jacket, sweatshirt, long trousers, gloves and hat, glasses and neck warmer to protect yourself from gases and volcanic sand. Possibility to rent trekking shoes + jacket on site. Packed lunch and at least 1.5 liters of water per person are recommended.

The excursion requires good physical preparation, it is strongly not recommended for those suffering from cardiovascular, respiratory or hypertension problems, for those suffering from dizziness, for pregnant women, and prohibited for children under 13 years of age.
